Taxseer enables quick & secure online Form W-9 (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification) Management

Purpose of Form W-9

Business use IRS Form W-9 (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification) to get information from vendors who are hired as independent contractors. When a business makes a payment of $600 or more to the contractor during a tax year then it has to be reported to the IRS through Form 1099-Misc Online. The contractors provide their name, address,  and the correct taxpayer identification number (TIN) which may be the social security number (SSN), individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN), adoption taxpayer identification number (ATIN), or employer identification number (EIN), to complete the information return. Neither the Filer (Sender) nor the Recipient are required to send the W-9 copy to the IRS. Examples of information returns include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Form 1099-INT (interest earned or paid)
  • Form 1099-DIV (dividends, including those from stocks or mutual funds)
  • Form 1099-MISC (various types of income, prizes, awards, or gross proceeds)
